As a technical partner of Verpackungstechnik Jetter GmbH, b+b Automations- und Steuerungstechnik GmbH has developed an innovative splicing head for the new Jetsplice® process. It further optimises the process of interruption-free labelling.
The automation of product marking through labelling makes a valuable contribution to optimising intralogistics processes and thus the entire value chain in trade and industry. The automatic printing and application of labels is just one part of the necessary processes that contribute to safety, speed and efficiency through automation. In particular, the regularly required reel change still proves to be a weak point in many systems, requiring manual intervention and previously complex and expensive systems.
The LabelLink® splicing process has been offering users in the high-tech sector, for example in medical technology, a way of seamlessly connecting label webs with one another for several years now, allowing them to change reels easily without having to interrupt the labelling process. For this purpose, the end of a label web is bonded to the beginning of a new web in a splice head designed for this purpose using the special LabelLink® adhesive tape.
The new JetSplice® process further simplifies the process, making it accessible to a wide range of users and economically attractive for standard applications in various industries. The basis for this is a new splicing head developed by b+b Automations- und Steuerungstechnik GmbH. Label webs from two separate rolls run together in it.
The new splicing head, developed as part of a co-operation with the supplier of automation solutions Verpackungstechnik Jetter GmbH, is based on a simple design consisting of just a few components. As a result, b+b Automations- und Steuerungstechnik guarantees reliable, low-maintenance operation that is less susceptible to faults, while at the same time fulfilling the system's economic efficiency requirements. Despite the simple design, the simplified JetSplice® process also guarantees maximum precision, without defects, while maintaining the specified label distance at the splice point.
As the new splice head completely dispenses with mechanical or pneumatic control and movement processes, equipping labelling machines proves to be less complex, significantly more cost-effective and space-saving than previously common solutions using duplex dispensing systems.
"We are delighted that we were able to present the new JetSplice process to our customers at FachPack in Nuremberg," explains Alexander Beck, Managing Director of b+b Automations- und Steuerungstechnik GmbH.
